> Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in quantum theory in the Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics Section in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London. This post is funded by the European Research Council, and forms part of a program to identify universality and fingerprints of chaos in PT-symmetric quantum systems.
>
> The project will involve working closely with Dr Eva-Maria Graefe (and her quantum theory research group) on the formulation and investigation of new random matrix models. In particular the post-holder will:
>
> •Investigate properties of split-Hermitian matrices;
> •Explore new routes towards the definition of PT-symmetric random matrices;
> •Further study spectral statistics of known non-Hermitian random matrix ensembles (such as the Ginibre ensemble), both analytically and numerically; and
> •Investigate dynamical and spectral behaviours of PT-symmetric versions of quantum chaotic models (such as quantum maps).
>
> The position would suit applicants interested in developing a career at the intersection of mathematics and physics with a strong background in random matrix theory, semiclassical physics and quantum chaos and/or PT-symmetric quantum mechanics. Most important are a curious mind and a genuine passion for research. The successful applicant will join a vibrant and friendly research group.
